Essential Job Functions and Duties:

This role provides high-quality care to clients seeking help with mental health disorders across the lifespan. Duties and job functions may include but is not limited to:

Assess, Diagnose, and Treat: Work with children, adolescents, adults, and elders to provide comprehensive mental health care.
Prescribe Medications: Utilize your expertise to manage treatment plans in accordance with Alaska’s Nurse Practice Act.
Collaborate: Partner with counselors, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate holistic client care.
Document Care: Ensure timely and accurate medical records, including assessments, treatment plans, and billing entries.
Develop Treatment Plans: Create individualized treatment plans that incorporate the latest best practices in mental health care.
Engage with Families: Communicate with guardians and significant others when appropriate, fostering a supportive network for your clients.
Order Tests: Utilize diagnostic tests to monitor client progress and treatment effectiveness.

Required Skills:

Technology literacy required
Strong documentation skills and experience navigating electronic health records.
Experience working with Telehealth technologies preferred
Experience with Microsoft teams considered an asset
Strong interpersonal communication skills.
Strong ability to manage time and prioritized tasks
Experience with child and youth therapy considered an asset, but not required
Experience with Group Therapy considered an asset but not required
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Qualifications:

To thrive in this role, you will need:

A Master’s or Doctorate Degree in Nursing with specialization in psychiatry/mental health.
An unencumbered license to practice as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner in Alaska.
A minimum of 3 years of experience as a practicing Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
Practice Specialties in Child/Youth, Family Counseling considered an asset.
A valid DEA number and no exclusions from federal health care programs.
A valid Drivers License considered an asset

Job Location: Hybrid: in office in Kenai, AK 99611 and potential for some work from home days using telehealth. There is a potential for some off-site (on location) days in Homer to be discussed with the right candidate.
