Mount Spur Patient Eruption Plan
The Alaska Volcano Observatory has issued a notice that Mount Spur is showing signs of potential eruption.
Based on the previous eruptions in 1992 and 1958 it is expected that the ash cloud will have a high probability of impacting our practice locations.
Your health and safety and that of our staff is our primary concern. The biggest hazard from Alaska volcanoes is ashfall. Ash fallout can pose significant disruption and damage to buildings, cars air filter and engines, water and wastewater, power supply, communications equipment, agriculture, even at thicknesses of only a few millimetres or inches. Additionally, fine grained ash, when ingested can cause health impacts to humans and animals.
In the event of a volcanic eruption, ND Systems Inc. will follow these guidelines:
- ND Systems Inc. will monitor the situation and determine whether the office will be closed on a day-to-day basis.
- Patients with sessions scheduled for any day where the office is closed will be notified as soon as possible and given the option to have their session switched to a virtual session or to reschedule at a later date. If your session was already virtual then no changes will be made.
- ND Systems Inc. does follows the school district decision on closures so if the schools are closed then ND Systems Inc. office will be closed.
- If the office is closed, then no patients will be seen in person. DO NOT COME TO THE OFFICE.
Eruption occurs while in session:
- If the volcanic eruption is determined to pose a health and safety risk at our office location while you are at our office then the front office staff will discuss with you if you can be accommodated by switching your appointment to a virtual session later in the day or to reschedule your appointment.
While we understand that this situation may cause some disruption in schedules, this plan and its procedures have been put in place to protect the health and safety of all our patients, their families and team. We at ND systems will always put the health and safety of our staff and patients first.
